SilverSneakers® is a benefit available to L.A. Care Medicare Plus members at no extra cost. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help you learn about this benefit.
If you are an L.A. Care Medicare Plus member, you will be automatically enrolled in the SilverSneakers benefit program.
If you are newly enrolled in the health plan, SilverSneakers will know about your membership after the 15th of the month you start with L.A. Care.
Give them your SilverSneakers ID number and they will go through the membership process for their center. This may take up to 30 minutes.
Members who want a tour of the location should call in advance for additional time.
If you don’t have your card, you can request your 16-digit membership number by calling L.A. Care Medicare Plus Member Services at 1-833-522-3767 (TTY:711).
Call L.A. Care Medicare Plus Member Services at 1-833-522-3767 (TTY:711) to request a new card. You can also print a copy of your card at home by registering at the SilverSneakers website.
In this case, you will not receive a new card. Your previous membership number will still work.
SilverSneakers offers a basic membership, but services such as personal training may cost extra.
You can ask your location to place a hold on your paid membership or freeze your account.
If you have an existing membership at a non-participating location, you’re still responsible for all previous arrangements with that site.
SilverSneakers can send you a kit so that you can do exercises at home. Items in the home kit change depending on availability, but one example is a strength kit with a handbook and resistance band.
